Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Leeds Local Offer
The Leeds Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), their parent / carers and professionals working with them in a single place. It shows families what they can expect from a range of local services including education, health and social care.
The Leeds Local Offer is about providing families with information to make informed choices about services they chose to use.
As well as providing information to families, the Leeds Local Offer is also a platform for families to feedback about services in the city and if there are any gaps in services to influence commissioning.
Over the last 10 months we have been consulting with children, young people, parents, carers and professionals about what the new Leeds Local Offer website should look like, the information that should be included and how it can be developed to meet their needs. We consulted with over 100 people in September and October 2020, and following the consultation we worked with the website designers on a full redesign of the Leeds Local Offer. Young people and parents undertook user testing in March 2021 and now the Leeds Local Offer website is being relaunched.
The Leeds Local Offer website is under continuous review, and if young people, parents / carers of professionals have any suggestions for improvements they are able to feedback via online form on the website. All feedback will be shared and responded to via the Leeds Local Offer annual report which is published every September, this is a legal obligation under the SEND Code of Practice.
